On October 21, Innovation Day 2026 took place at the Neuquén Technology Hub, organized by the Argentina-Texas Chamber of Commerce (ATCC) under the theme Where Energy Meets Technology. The event brought together business leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, and representatives from the energy and technology sectors to explore opportunities for innovation, investment, and collaboration between Argentina and the United States.
BigSur Energy supported the event as a Golden Sponsor, reaffirming its commitment to knowledge exchange and the development of new opportunities across both industries.
As part of the event, Ariel Perelman, CEO & Co-Founder of BigSur Energy, participated as a speaker, sharing his perspective on the growing energy demands of the digital economy, the limitations of traditional power infrastructure, and the opportunities presented by off-grid power generation models.

Access to Energy: One of the Key Challenges Facing Artificial Intelligence
During his presentation, Perelman emphasized that the rapid growth of artificial intelligence is reshaping infrastructure requirements worldwide. The expansion of data centers and the increasing demand for computing capacity present a challenge that extends beyond technological development: securing sufficient power to sustain this growth.
In this context, he highlighted how energy resource availability, geographic location, and the limitations of conventional power grids are becoming critical factors in the development of new projects.
Drawing on his experience in the United States, particularly in Texas, Perelman addressed the challenges new data centers face in accessing electricity transmission and distribution infrastructure. He also emphasized the need for alternative solutions capable of supporting the continued expansion of energy demand.
Off-Grid Power Generation as an Alternative for Data Center Development
Perelman highlighted the potential of off-grid power generation models to support scalable computing infrastructure through modular power systems that operate independently of the conventional electricity grid.
“The only way to build a scalable data center today is to go directly to the energy source and make it completely off-grid,” he stated during his presentation.
This approach is directly aligned with BigSur Energy’s business model, which converts natural gas from upstream and midstream operations into off-grid electricity to power modular data centers.
With projects in Texas and Louisiana, the company is advancing a model that integrates energy infrastructure and computing capacity, connecting available energy resources with the evolving demands of the digital economy.
Argentina’s Opportunity to Become a Data Center Hub for Latin America
During his presentation, Perelman also highlighted Argentina’s potential to establish itself as a strategic hub for computing infrastructure in the region, supported by its energy resources and technological capabilities.
“Today, Argentina has the opportunity to position itself as the data center hub for Latin America,” he stated, emphasizing the opportunities created by the growing global demand for computing capacity.
In this context, he noted that leveraging the country’s hydrocarbon resources, alongside the development of technological infrastructure, could attract new investment and strengthen Argentina’s position in the digital economy.

A Model Creating New Opportunities for the Energy Industry
Perelman also discussed BigSur Energy’s progress in Argentina and its ongoing discussions with oil and gas companies to develop new projects focused on utilizing natural gas resources for power generation.
As he explained, this approach not only creates new business opportunities for gas producers but also has the potential to drive the development of suppliers, infrastructure, and services associated with data center construction and operations.
In this way, positioning Argentina as a regional hub for computing infrastructure represents a shared growth opportunity for the energy and technology sectors, with the potential to strengthen the entire value chain.
BigSur Energy’s participation in Innovation Day 2026 provided an opportunity to share this vision for the future and reaffirm the company’s commitment to integrating energy resources, technological innovation, and new investment opportunities in Argentina.
